HECHTECH is an independent radio production company accredited to the BBC. We make documentaries, features, music stories and radio drama for English and German language radio (and hopefully one day for the French). We try to tell stories in which all categories of sound – effects, music and language – are important.

HECHTECH consists of a small office studio in Berlin from where we record narration and process and mix using Hindenburg, Adobe Audition, Wavelab and Audacity. We are currently setting up a second office studio in Accra, Ghana

David Hecht is a print and radio journalist. He started making radio features in 1996 as a BBC correspondent based in Senegal and then for US National Public Radio. He produced longer radio documentaries for the BBC's program Assignment and for MPR's American Radio Works.

He later worked for the UN based in New York, Nairobi, Dakar and Freetown as a reporter, editor, spokesman and as a chief of Public Affairs.

Since moving to Berlin in 2009, Hecht has produced radio features for various German state broadcasters as well as the BBC/WGBH US current affairs program The World and Australia's Radio National.

In between projects Hecht also works as a corporate investigator.
